Tutored tasting by Noel Pinguet

Just came across an interesting write-up of a tutored tasting by Noel Pinguet back in April:

'Every cloud has a silver lining: an evening with Noël Pinguet of Vouvray producer Gaston Huët

Author: David Berry Green

Marooned I may have been, but Noël Pinguet’s tutored tasting for 31 fortunate few (me included), in Berrys’ cellar on Monday night, more than compensated for this inconvenience. And just as the Icelandic volcano has reminded us of man’s meekness in the face of nature, so Noël’s wines clearly substantiated the pull of biodynamics: harnessing nature’s (free) power to brilliant effect and not a plume of ash in sight either.'

As David Berry Green highlights at the end - it must have been a real pleasure!

No tutored tasting here in Corneilla-de-la-Rivière, but another approach to Huet’s wines nevertheless: we (= friends, lady-friend Christine, my liver and me) had Haut-Lieu première trie 1989 AND Clos du Bourg première trie 1990.
Quite satisfactory, old chap! Could still wait a few years, especially the 1989, but NO decades.
For those with a memory of 1976, 1969 or 1964 – or, better still, with a few bottles left ! - these younger versions seem “short-lived”. Would Steiner have an aging influence, or is it Mrs. Blavatsky?

Luc. Thanks. I fancy that the 1989 and 1990 may well last longer than you think. A suivre!
