Château de Minière: an update from Kathleen Van den Berghe

Château de Minière, Ingrandes de Touraine (AC Bourgueil)
The house following restoration work – October 2011

'As of now, and hopefully always as of now, we can welcome guests in several languages, every day of the week. That is at least in French, English and Dutch. And a few other languages on the days I and/or my husband are present as well.

We are open every day of the week, incl weekend and holidays, incl over lunchtime. We always prefer to work by appointment, just to organize ourselves and make sure we welcome our guests correctly, but that is not required.

We will detail our winetourism-offer over summer, but please already note that we are happy to organize tastings, meals, meetings, picnics in the park, …
We now also sell other products with wine, like gelée, jam and fruit on wine. We will extend this further over time, also with non-food products.

We have a new winemaker since July 2011, so one year now, and our wines have made a giant leap forward. I am very proud of our Rouge de Minière 2011, a fresh and fruity Bourgueil.

At the same time the range and the packaging of the wines have been changed as well. And this year we have also done a few trials, like organic grape juice and Bulles de Minière, a red pétillant naturel, which has turned out very well! Next year we will continue on this path, and try to produce a few other novelties.

The buildings are being renovated, we still have a fair bit of work there, but the first results are looking very promising.

And if all goes to plan, we should soon build a “chai” on the site of Minière, and we have quite some ideas to turn that into a tourist attraction as well.

It would be great to welcome you and/or your guests, to visit the domaine, taste the new wines and maybe discuss our various plans and get your feedback. As I said, we always have someone present to welcome our guests. I will be in Minière from this Sunday until Friday July 20, and then on and off roughly every 2 weeks throughout the summer.
